Course Details
This course is an introductory-level total immersion course. It provides students immersion-learning tools following the principles of leaving English behind, and conveying every object and process in Nsyilxcen. Students will be relearning the world in Nsyilxcen. The course provides immersion learners with essential Nsyilxcen phrases and assists them with learning language. Students will learn the use of basic phrases as well as the process of participating in an immersion setting.

    Procedure:
    Assignments 50 - 70%, Final 30 - 50%, Total 100 %. Grading procedures follow NVIT policy.
    Learning Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:

    • demonstrate and understanding of how to respectfully work with fluent Nsyilxcen speakers as “immersion learners”;
    • speak so as to demonstrate understanding of key Nsyilxcen phrases;
    • use phrases in Nsyilxcen that are appropriate for requesting assistance in immersion conversation;

    • demonstrate an understanding of the use of
    basic Nsyilxcen Sentence Structure format;
    • demonstrate an understanding of basic use of
    Nsyilxcen question phrase structure;
    • demonstrate an ability to function in an
    everyday immersion setting including learning
    techniques to listen for key sounds; and
    • recognize common Nsyilxcen words and phrases.
