C.3.11 Transfer Credit

POLICY
Credit may be granted towards an NVIT credential for course work completed at another post-secondary institution. Transfer credit agreements registered with the BC Council of Admissions and Transfer (BCCAT) will be granted without assessment of approved course outlines from the sending institutions. Transfer credit applied for from institutions without standing transfer agreements for the specific course credit may be granted after the individual course outlines have been assessed.
PROCEDURE
· All Transfer Credit at NVIT must be applied for through the Registrar’s Office by filling out the Application For Transfer Credit form. · No Transfer Credit will be considered official until recorded on the student’s transcript. · Only official transcripts or academic records will be utilized for the purpose of Transfer Credit assessment. · NVIT will adhere to the established guidelines and practices set out by BCCAT. · Established Transfer Credit Agreements (BCCAT or Governance Approved Affiliation agreements) process.
1. Students will have official transcripts (or approved academic records) sent directly to the NVIT Registrar’s Office from the sending institution. 2. The students will meet with the Registrar (or appointed alternate) and request the transfer credit be applied to their NVIT transcript. 3. Once the Registrar (or appointed alternate) makes an assessment of available transfer credit within the guidelines of any NVIT academic policies, the student will be informed of all transfer credit available towards any NVIT credential. 4. If the student decides to accept the transfer credit available the Registrar (or appointed alternate) will transcript the transfer credit and file the sending institution official transcript or approved record in the student file. 5. The student will receive an updated transcript reflecting the transfer credit.
· Transfer credit request process without established Transfer Credit Agreements.
