Job Description:

The Community Education Department of NVIT believes in community based education and training. NVIT anticipates the need for term instructors to teach within the Employment Skills Access Program and invites applications from qualified candidates. The courses will be offered at Coldwater Indian Band, Merritt, BC.  Prospective applicants should indicate which course(s) they are interested in teaching.

October, 2018 to January, 2019 - Schedule to be determined:

EMSK 041 – Cultural Orientation

EMSK 045 – Math in the Workplace

EMSK 042 – Personal Development

EMSK 046 – English in the Workplace

EMSK 043 – Workplace Essentials

EMSK  047 – Intro to Computers in the Workplace

EMSK 044 – Career Exploration and Networking

EMSK 048 – Essential Skills Practicum

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • possess a Bachelors or a Master’s Degree in a related field and/or a desired combination of education and experience;

  • demonstrated post-secondary teaching experience with Aboriginal adult learners;

  • understanding in working with adult learners who may have less than positive educational/life experiences;

  • demonstrated excellent teaching and human relations skills - faculty members are expected to contribute positively to the life of the school and community;

  • knowledge of Aboriginal culture and language.
