BC's Indigenous Public Post-Secondary Institute

NVIT will be hosting a Hospice Volunteer Training Workshop on June 26th & June 27th, 2018 from 8:30AM-4:30PM. Coffee & tea will be provided!

Training is open to anyone interested in learning how to support people who are dying and/or interested in helping people bereaved by death of all kinds. Focus is on good communication skills including active listening, empathy and non-judgemental acceptance. Students will learn about bereavement, death and dying, and best practices in supporting anyone suffering from loss.

Although the topic isn't one most people want to talk about, there will be lots of opportunities for humour and discussion over the two days. This training is educational rather than therapeutic but most participants come away with better understanding of their own grieving process.

Preregistration is required and limited to 12 participants. To register, email Jill or Ava at merritthospice@shaw.ca with your name, address and phone number. Information packages will be available before the week of class.
