Course Details
This course is experiential in nature and students present to the group from the beginning. Students are taught both theoretical and practical techniques that aid in effective delivery of their material. Presentations will be video taped, reviewed and critiqued. Students will also be provided technical skills on utilization of Power Point Presentations. This course also emphasizes the importance of technical writing skills. It covers the fundamentals of audience analysis, organizations, style and tone. Students develop skills in writing letters, minutes, formal and informal reports and research.

  • Prerequisites : ENGL 050 or English 11 and MATH 050 or Applications of Math 11 or equivalent.

    Assignments/Group Projects/Midterms 50-70%, Final Exam 30-50%. Total 100%. Grading procedures follow the NVIT policy.
    Learning Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this course students should be able to:
  • plan and organize a professional presentation;

  • develop and write a dynamic lesson plan;

  • deliver a presentation in a confident, assured manner;

  • prepare and use training aids; and

  • prepare and use training aids including knowledge on how to use power point presentations;

  • Explain the role and function of communication skills in the workplace;

  • Apply a systematic process to writing business messages; and

  • Employ strategies to write effective correspondence that project a favorable company image and promote future business for a variety of situations.
