Course Details
This course helps learners develop and increase essential skills in reading text, applying numeracy applications, and understanding curriculum documents in trade programs. This course prepares learners with test-taking strategies relevant to their programs.

    Office Hours: 1.5 Per week

    Student Evaluation
    Procedure:
    Assignments 50-70%, Final 30-50%, Total 100%. Grading procedures follow NVIT policy.
    Learning Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this course students should be able to:

  • demonstrate an understanding of the essential skills in relation to the trades industries;
  • demonstrate an understanding of the literacy skills required for the trades industries;
  • demonstrate an understanding of the numeracy skills required for the trades industries;
  • demonstrate an understanding of the document usage skills required for the trades industries; and
  • demonstrate a measurable gain in their respective essential skills.
