Course Details
This course is an introductory-level to a full immersion course. It provides students Nysilxcen immersion-learning tools following the principles of leaving English behind, and conveying every object and process in Nsyilxcen. Students will be relearning the world in Nsyilxcen. The course provides immersion learners with essential Nsyilxcen phrases to assist them with words, phrases that allows them to interact and ask for repetition or slowing down or demonstrating. Students will learn the use of basic phrases as well as the process of participating in an immersion setting.

    Procedure:
    Assignments 50-70%, Final 30-50%, Total 100%. Grading procedures follow NVIT policy. 
    Learning Outcomes:

    Upon successful completion f this course students should be able to:



    • demonstrate an understanding of how to respectfully work with fluent Nsyilxcen speakers as "immersion learners";

    • demonstrate an understanding of key Nsyilxcen immersion phrases;

    • demonstrate an ability to use phrases in Nsyilxcen that are appropriate for requesting assistance in immersion learning;

    • demonstrate an understanding of the use of basic Nsyilxcen key words of everyday social language;

    • demonstrate an understanding of basic use of Nsyilxcen question phrases;

    • demonstrate an ability to function in an everyday immersion setting including learning techniques to listen for the key sounds; and

    • demonstrate an ability to recognize common Nsyilxcen words and phrases.
