CAPS-101 - Physical Education Development for Public Safety II - 3.00 Credits

Course Details
This course builds on Physical Education Development for Public Safety I and further develops fitness and lifestyle management requirements specific to the field of public safety. Learners will apply knowledge related to nutrition, stress management, physical aptitude to physical fitness methods to improve on weight training, anaerobic, aerobic and cardio-vascular capabilities. Physical aptitude assessments will continue through the term.

    Procedure:
    Assignments 50-70%, Final 30-50%, Total 100%. Grading procedures follow NVIT policy.
    Learning Outcomes:

    Upon successful completion of this course students should be able to:



    • practice a commitment to a healthy lifestyle;

    • demonstrate the effects of being physically fit;

    • exhibit the benefits of maintaining training to increase cardiovascular fitness in a safe and effective manner (aerobic endurance, stamina);

    • apply an understanding of muscle strength to improve mass and improve muscular strength; and

    • demonstrate an understanding of the dynamic in flexibility.
