Some awards require you to demonstrate financial need, while others recognize academic achievement, community involvement, or other accomplishments. BC Ambassador Program Free Tuition Entrance Scholarship
One Year Free Tuition (The amount will vary based on the program's direct cost.)
Awarded to a candidate in the BC Ambassador Program who meets all entrance requirements of the program of study they will be applying to (College Readiness, Bridging to Trades and Access to Employment Skills are not eligible programs of study). Applications are available from the BC Ambassador Program Director. The deadline to apply is 4:30 pm, June 15th each year. The BC Ambassador Program will determine the recipient.

Black Feather Fund Entrance Scholarship 2023 Application
The Black Feather Fund Entrance Scholarship will be disbursed to two (2) students in the amount of $1000 each at the annual awards ceremony. If successful, these awards are renewable for an additional $1000 if the students maintain their respective programs’ minimum grade point averages in their first year of studies at NVIT.
The NVIT Registration Office must receive applications by 4:30pm on August 15, 2023. If August 15th lands on a weekend, the application will be due the last business day before the deadline. Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted. Please mail or drop off original copies only; faxes, emails and/or photocopies will not be accepted. Awarded to a graduate of the ENRT Certificate program who plans to complete the ENRT Diploma program. The student must be registered in full-time coursework in the diploma program and must have obtained a minimum 2.33 (C+) grade point average in the Certificate Program. The student must demonstrate financial need, dedication to their studies and connection to the land.
The bursary will be applied to the student’s account as it is to be used for tuition, books or supplies. The deadline to apply is 4:30pm, August 15th each year or the last business day BEFORE deadline. The Awards Adjudication Committee will determine the recipient.

Awarded to a full-time student in any program at the Merritt Campus who is registered in a minimum 60% course load, who attends regularly, achieves strong grades and demonstrates financial need. The student must be from the Lytton, BC area. If a recipient cannot be found, preference will be given to students from the Southern Interior of BC. The deadline to apply is August 15th at 4:30 pm or the last business day BEFORE the deadline. The Awards Adjudication Committee will automatically determine the recipient.
Immediate Entry Bursary

Awarded to Grade 12 graduates who graduate and transition directly from high school (BC Adult Graduation Diploma is not applicable) to NVIT. Students must have applied and been accepted by July 17, 2023 and be registered in a minimum 60% course load of first year Post-Secondary courses, each semester, for the upcoming academic year. Students must be a 2023 Grade 12 graduate from: - School District #58 (Merritt Secondary, Princeton Secondary, SCIDES), School District #74 (Desert Sands Community School, Kumsheen Shch-Ema-meet, Lillooet Secondary, David Stoddart Secondary, Similkameen Elementary Secondary or Hope Secondary (Indigenous or non-Indigenous); - A BC First Nations School that is registered with the BC First Nations Schools Association; or - Graduate from across BC who self-identifies as Indigenous.

Awarded to two recipients of First Nations descent, enrolled in certificate or diploma programs at the Eagle's Perch Merritt Campus enrolled in a minimum 80% course load. One to a mature student (an individual that is at least 35 years of age and has been out of formal education for a minmum of five years) and one to a Nicola Valley Secondary School graduate. Students cannot have previously attended post-secondary studies or have been funded through the secondary school ACE-IT program. Successful recipients must also demonstrate consistant commitment to active lifestyles and community leadership before and during their time at NVIT.
Enrolment services will contact eligible students no later than August 5th. An application will be emailed and must be completed and returned by 4:30 pm, August 15th or the last business day BEFORE the deadline. The awards adjudication committee will determine the recipient.
Nicola Naturalist Society Bursary *updated 2023*

Awarded to a full-time, graduating first year Environmental Resources Technology (ENRT) student, from the Merritt campus, expecting to continue into his/her second year of studies of ENRT at NVIT. The applicant must demonstrate high academic achievement, motivation, self-discipline, and dedication to his/her studies, and plans on pursuing a career in the Environmental and/or Natural Resources Field. The applicant must be a Canadian citizen.

This bursary is open to self-identified Indigenous learners from any campus (community programs included) who are enrolled in a minimum 60% course load for the for the upcoming academic year. This entrance bursary is open to learners enrolled in any field of study (Developmental Education, Employment Skills Access, Bridging to Trades and Micro-credentials are excluded). The bursary application, proof of enrolment (via transcripts or a registration statement) and a 300-word essay describing dedication to Indigenous arts and/or culture are required to be eligible for this award.

NVIT Secondary School Entrance Scholarship
$1,000
Awarded to one graduating secondary school student from each of the following communities: Ashcroft, Clinton, Kamloops, Keremeos, LIllooet, Logan Lake, Lytton or Salmon Arm. The student must have received a C+ average within the last academic year. The student must be actively involved in either their community or secondary school community, demonstrate leadership abilities and plans on attending NVIT in any program at the post-secondary level (100-level or higher) in a full-time course load (80% minimum) within 15 months of graduation. The award will be released in two disbursements ($500 in October and $500 in February, dependent upon achieving a minimum program GPA in the fall semester after the add/drop dates). If the student is sponsored, cheques will be made directly to the student after the add/drop dates of each semester.
The deadline to apply is set by the individual secondary schools each year. See the Secondary School Counselor for further details. The Secondary School Awards Adjudication Committee will determine the recipient.
Robert A. Lisle Memorial Transition Entrance Award *updated 2023*
Awarded to a recipient who is 25 plus years of age (younger applicants may be considered depending on life circumstances), enrolled in a minimum 80% course load in a certificate, diploma or associate degree program at the Merritt campus and demonstrate high financial need.
To be eligible, students must be entering the first year of a post-secondary level program. Preferences will be given to students entering the Access to Practical Nursing program or any certificate or Associate Degree program after completing upgrading courses in the College Readiness program.
School District #36-NVIT Community and Public Safety Professional Program Bursary *soon to be updated*
One Course Free Tuition (Student will be responsible to pay all mandatory fees)
Awarded to a student enrolled in Grade 12 from School District #36 on a graduation track by the end of June, who shows an aptitude and interest in law enforcement preparation. The student must have successfully completed CAPS140-Criminal Justice Studies, through the partnership created by the School District #36 and NVIT. The student must submit recommendation letters as outlined in the School District #36-NVIT partnership. The student must apply and be accepted into NVIT's Community and Public Safety Professional Program or the Associate of Arts-Criminology Degree program. Applications are available from the Secondary School Principals of School District #36. The deadline to apply is 4:30pm, March 15th each year. School District #36 will determine the recipient.
Technical Safety BC Entrance Bursary *updated 2023*

Awarded to three recipients of Indigenous ancestry who are enrolled full-time (60% or higher) in any program, at any campus for the 22-23 academic year. This bursary provided by Technical Safety BC will support learners in their studies, particularly in the technical/trades education and social sciences. Applicants must provide proof of full-time enrolment for the 22-23 academic year and demonstrate financial need.
