Numeracy skills are essential in the work place. This course will enhance the learners ability to use and understand numbers by developing the following skills: basic math, budgeting, calculations, measurement, handling money, banking, and creating schedules.

Assignments 50 - 70%, Final30 - 50%.
Grading procedures follow NVIT policy.

Learning Outcomes:
|
Upon successful completion of this course students should be able to:
perform calculations that require addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of real numbers;
create and balance budgets based on their knowledge of personal finances and credit control;
perform measurement conversions (e.g. inches to centimeters, milliliters to liters);
take simple measurements (eg: length, weight, temperature);
create and monitor schedules (eg: staffing, project schedules);
demonstrate an ability to receive cash payments and make change;
compare similar products with differing cost structures to determine the best value; and
estimate the time required to complete specific tasks.
