In this course students will learn the procedures required to understand water-related problems that may exist in a watershed. They will also learn to recognize water-related implications of development in watersheds.

Instructors Qualifications:

Master's degree in a related field. Bachelor's degree in a related field with experience will be considered.

Student Evaluation Procedure:
|
Assignments 50-70%, Final 30-50%, Total 100%.
Grading procedures follow NVIT policy.

Learning Outcomes:
|
Upon successful completion of this course students should be able to:
assess peak flows;
• assess hydrological recovery;
complete sediment source surveys;
carry out reconnaissance channel assessment procedures;
assess riparian ecosystems;
monitor watershed units;
identify stream orders;
identify sub-basins;
determine equivalent clear cut areas;
identify stream reaches;
choose proper location for collection of water samples;
classify drainage patterns from topographic maps and aerial photographs;
delineate and calculate area for watershed catchment using topographic maps and aerial photographs; and
identify watershed characteristics from topographic maps and aerial photographs.
